One last thing...
Our goal in treatment is to get readings that are as far below the yellow bar (Cognitive Threshold) as possible. That means it cannot be smelled! But because it is impossible to sterilize the mouth, inevitably some bacteria remain. Shanice was focused on her career in sales at a high-end car agency when she came to the National Breath Center in July of 2018. Karen came to the National Breath Center from Las Vegas in July 2018 for an examination. She had experienced all the tell-tale reactions to her breath from the people she knew. Frances was distraught when she came to the National Breath Center in July 2018. The women she had been sitting with in church for years had begun offering her mints and gum, and even moving away when she came close. That was the final straw. She knew she had a breath problem and had tried a number of products from the Internet. She even had seen her family doctor who prescribed medication for acid reflux but that did nothing for her breath problem. She thought her heavy use of gums, mints, and looking away from people was successfully covering up her halitosis - until her friends started avoiding her in church. Here’s what she looked like when we first saw her. The smaller photo is from a small area near the back of her tongue.
Her first gas chromatograph reading showed all three sulfur compounds to be very high. Her H2S (rotten eggs) was 837, 7.5 times threshold; the CH3SH (feces) was 710, 27 times threshold; and her (CH3)2S was 194, was 24 times threshold. (Remember that threshold is the level as which each odor can be smelled.) This is a sign of extremely foul breath as all the chemical odors are mixed together far above threshold.
Frances came back in October for treatment and to visit a friend. In just 3 appointments, this was her final reading. Again, note the total absence of two of the sulfur compounds while the third is FAR BELOW THRESHOLD and not strong enough to be noticeable, even up close.

Also notice that her tongue was not totally pink. As mentioned earlier, when biofilm is removed to reveal a healthy tongue, we can see the many colors from reddish to whitish, all because of the different shapes and sizes of the taste buds; larger taste buds are pinker and the many smaller taste buds that are thinner, are more whitish.

Grace came to see us in September 2018. Here is what she wrote in her first email before she came to us:

Here are her photos before Tongue Rejuvenation. Notice the extent of the biofilm on her tongue - almost 75% is covered! In the closeup photo, very little of her tongue shows through, indicating that the thick, gooey biofilm was at least 1/4-inch-thick in the worst areas. No wonder her breath was bad.
The first gas chromatograph readings had almost 5 times the threshold of H2S (rotten eggs odor), almost 10 times the threshold of CH3SH (feces odor), and 15 times the threshold of (CH3)2S (cabbage/gasoline)!
Compare the final tongue photo to the original. After 3 visits, you can actually see the abundance of taste buds that Tongue Rejuvenation uncovered.

When Geoff arrived at the National Breath Center for his exam in August 2018, he was skeptical. He thought he was beyond a cure, his breath was so bad. At that time his best friend of ten years was avoiding him, his wife told him that if his breath didn't improve drastically, she would no longer be intimate, and sales opportunities at work were being given to less knowledgeable and less experienced coworkers. Geoff's taste buds are a good example of taste buds that are not completely pink with many of them whitish looking. This is a common occurrence – the thinner taste buds appear white as do areas of flat taste buds (translucent) while the fatter ones look pinker, even reddish. But if you look closely, they are completely clean of biofilm. There is no creamy whitish-yellow biofilm remaining (as was pictured in his "before" photo).
